Silat Knife Fighting

his clip is just a small example of the weapons skills found in silat. As you can see, these techniques are several steps beyond ordinary self defense: they’re meant for situations of extreme personal safety…and of course, the battlefield.

Silat is a term that houses a wide variety of hand and weapons arts under one banner.  Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines are some of the countries in which silat is practised.  Like many great martial traditions, silat has a long and deep history, spanning back across the centuries.
