e’ve
had some good success using acu-point H7 for high blood pressure.
In
fact, one of our Tai Chi instructors reported that a student with very high
blood pressure readings was able to drop about thirty to fourty points after
two weeks of daily training in this technique…without any other medicinal or
lifestyle changes.
H7,
commonly referred to as shen men
(spirit gate), is located on the distal crease of the wrist on the lateral side
of the tendon of the flexor carpi ulnaris muscle.
The
technique: Stand or sit. Hold the left wrist in your right hand. With your
thumb, press gently on the point. Close your eyes. Inhale slowly through the
nose; exhale very slowly out through the mouth almost to the point where there is
no breath left. Maintain this breathing cycle for several minutes. Now switch
over to the H7 point in the wrist crease of the right hand. Follow the same
breathing pattern for another few minutes.
Gradually
extend your total practise time anywhere from five to fifteen minutes.
A
good method is to practise this early in the morning and just before you go to
bed.
As always, consultation
with medical practitioners comes first. Do not do this without their advice.
Also, do not stop taking any medications. If your blood pressure does drop, do
not stop taking any medications without the consent of a physician.
